A Republic

In 1776, George Washington, along with a dedicated group of patriots stood up to the monarchy that was England. They stood up to the throne because they were tired of the taxation. They were tired of regulation. They were tired of oppression. But most of all, these patriots were tired of being used and forgotten by a government that could care less about them.

Out of the ashes of the revolution came a government architected by some of the smartest people to ever grace America’s shores. This new government was designed with the “People” in mind. This government gave birth to a notion that America isn’t ruled by some rich, far away king or elite, but ruled by the people, and governed by ourselves. This new government gave the voice back to the people that make this country work, and ensured that the “little man” would never be forgotten. This government was designed to never fail, but always arise to the occasion. They called it a Republic!

The founding fathers designed this government around three distinct branches, the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. The fathers did this in order to keep a balance of power, to ensure America would never become what England had become. They did this so each branch would be checked and the common folk of this land would always have their best interests fought for!

In the past 8 years this foundation of government has been tested to its limits. The executive power of this government has abused its power beyond its limits, and in any other administration this branch would have been impeached for treason and disregard of the Constitution. Another four years of democratic power could have very well sent this Republic towards complete destruction. Under democratic control the common folk, and doers, of this great nation have been forgotten. Veterans are dying awaiting care. Coal miners are forced to do drastic things to feed their families. Drugs have overtaken the heartland of America. Race relations are at their lowest level since the 1960s. Inner cities have higher crime rates than any other time in the nation’s history. Cops are ridiculed by our government, and criminals are propped up. Illegal immigrants have more rights than the hard working men and women of this country. There is a larger percentage of Americans receiving government handouts than there is people going to work every day. Nearly half of the country has left the workforce. The democrats have thrown the America we knew in the dumpster, and were attempting to light the fire.

Yesterday when I went to the polls I was very scared. I was scared for my kids. I was genuinely scared that the Republic I have fought for and so dearly loved was all but eliminated. I was worried that my kids would never get to experience the American dream. I was scared for my parents, that they may never again see the America they grew up in. I was worried that all those gravesites resting in Arlington Virginia may lay in vain. I didn’t support Donald Trump in the primaries, and I didn’t think he was the best candidate on the republican ticket. But when I made my choice yesterday it wasn’t about me, it was about what was best for this country, and for my kids.

Ronald Reagan once said that the greatest weapon in all of the worlds’ arsenal is freedom. At 3:00 AM this morning America showed why that statement still holds true. The founding fathers knew this day would come, they knew that at some point there would come a time when Americans would have to decide whether or not they want to keep this Republic. The working folk of this country, the patriots, and the defenders of freedom showed up in droves.

I hear celebrities and political pundits threatening to leave this country. If they have no more knowledge on what this country was founded on, and cannot see the movement in which caused Donald Trumps’ victory is the same movement that founded this great nation, then I bid them farewell. Liberals will be agitated and they will speak about drastic measures, when they should actually take the time to cherish what just happened. This is America at its finest, this is what makes America the greatest land on earth.

I have never been more proud of my country than I am right now, and that is saying a lot. As a constitutionalist and a history buff, I have a feeling that Americans felt this same way in 1776. I have a feeling Americans felt this same way in 1979 when Ronald Regan destroyed Jimmy Carter. I have a feeling that somewhere George Washington is dressed in his uniform, sword sheathed, sipping whiskey and smoking a pipe with Thomas Jefferson!

God Bless The United States of America and The Republic for Which It Stands
